Apple martinis and porn stars were all the rage last night, as NakedSword (NakedSword.com) celebrated the wrap of the first season of its coproduction with Jet Set Productions, the X-rated soap Wet Palms, at a festive wrap party at the swank West Hollywood eatery The Abbey.
Porn stars swarmed amongst the red carpet and cheerful crowd following the shooting of the final scene of the season, a bar-set scene that was shot in one of the restaurant’s several bars. As NakedSword President Tim Valenti downed a celebratory drink, he enthused, “This is such a great project—unlike anything else being done in porn today. It’s a great match for us and Jet Set.”
The award-winning soap, the first of its kind in the gay XXX industry, follows the trials and tribulations of a group of gay men residing at the fictional Wet Palms apartment complex. Mistaken identities, mysterious newcomers, and lots of titillating sex have so far been the staples of the show, which debuted on NakedSword’s site last year to critical acclaim (eventually snagging GayVN Awards for Best Screenplay and Best Sex Comedy) before its eventual release on DVD through Jet Set.
Last night’s taping represented the culmination of the first nine episodes. Caught as he was entering the Abbey, Wet Palms star Brad Benton exclaimed, “Wait until you see it! It’s getting hotter and hotter with each episode. I can’t believe the stuff the have us doing in this last episode. It’s awesome!”
Other performers from the show who attended the event included Gus Mattox, Michael Soldier, Marcus Iron, Jason Ridge, Zak Spears, Rob Romoni, and Rod Barry, as well as noted Internet chat show “hostess” (and Wet Palms guest star) Sister Roma of NakedSword’s The Tim and Roma Show, which she cohosts with Valenti. Cybersocket magazine’s Morgan Summer was also spotted, as was JennaCash.com’s affiliate manager, Chandie Foster, who hinted that she is looking to breach some kind of project between the gay and straight sides of the webmaster industry.
“The gay and straight sides should embrace each other,” she said. “It would be great to do something between them.”
Meanwhile, as the porn stars began to yawn and call it an evening, heading home to their satin sheets and feather beds (of course), Valenti marveled at the accomplishment that Wet Palms represents. “This is such a great project,” he exclaimed.
