Following a successful run beginning at Internext Las Vegas, Moniker's and Internext's silent domain-name auction has ended, bringing in almost $220,000. Out of 2,700 domain names, nearly 100 were purchased at the silent auction.
"The final sum for the entire silent auction will not be officially declared until all sums have been received," Director of Marketing Genie White said.
The top six silent auction winners were Buff.com, $40,500; LiveVideos.com, $35,300; Flashers.com, $32,950; SkinnyDipping.com, $10,000; BigKnockers.com, $8,830; and FreeTeenPorn.com, $4,855.
The live auction, held at Internext, brought in almost $1.8 million.
White was correct in her prediction of the final live and silent auction numbers. "We're expecting [together] that the live and silent auction will bring in about $2 million," she said. The final tally of both auctions should reach a little over $2 million.
Monte Cahn, co-founder and chief executive officer of Moniker, said, "Adult online entertainment is a rapidly growing industry, and this auction is a great opportunity for those who recognize the value of marketable domain names and treat them as true business assets."
Some of the silent domain names, however, did not sell. For instance, NudeGirls.org, AdultMovie.mobi, and FreePornLinks.eu went without any bidders.
