Mobile technology firm Unwired Appeal has extended their mobile content delivery system, ZaptoPhone to the adult market.
The service delivers images and sounds (.jpg/.gif, .mp3 and MIDI files) to mobile phones around the world and is able to skirt carrier-imposed content guidelines by not offering straightforward content packages, but letting webmasters provide the content themselves. Webmasters can choose to make their content mobile by inserting a line of Java code and a ‘Zaptag’ for each item they want a user to be able to download to their phone.
“We built the ZaptoPhone service as an idea to get away from any content management we would have to do on our side, but instead open up that whole channel to the web and allow web sites that have content to easily deliver them to cell phone subscribers,” director of business development Stephen Nye told AVNOnline.com. “We handle the billing method and the content delivery, so it’s an easy way for web sites to mobile enable.”
Surfers are able to purchase the content by visiting the website, where they can add the desired content to their mobile webcart. New users are guided through an automated capability test to discern the precise characteristics of their individual phones. ZaptoPhone converts the photo or graphic to fit the screen size/resolution of the cell phone and transfers the image directly to the phone, where they can be saved or set as wallpaper or a screensaver.
Webmasters are able to set content prices within the ZaptoPhone billing platform. Unwired Appeal assesses a delivery fee that includes processing fees for credit card, PayPal, 900number and DuoCash transactions. The program offers real-time tracking through a web interface that connects to the billing platform.
Sites can also use their own billing platform, if they choose. ZaptoPhone can be used as a delivery-only service where web sites are charged 15 cents per customer download.
“It’s another revenue stream that could possibly be developed by various sites. There’s so much going on the Internet with Adult sites, there’s obviously a lot of people looking around for new ways to make money,” Nye said.
