A woman missing for four days before being found unconscious in a car has been tied to an Adult swingers’ Website which authorities think may hold the key as to how she disappeared why she ended up in a coma.
The wrinkles in the case also include a restraining order against the woman’s husband which expired the day before she disappeared.
Maria and Joe Korp were members of the swingers’ site, the name of which wasn’t revealed by authorities, having joined in January and last accessing it February 9. Police were unaware of the missing woman’s membership until an Australian newspaper tipped them off. Police had released a photo of Maria Korp the newspaper recognized as taken from their site displays.
Maria’s husband was reportedly interviewed twice about his wife’s disappearance “and has named himself as a suspect,” as well as admitting to having a recent affair but claiming to reconcile with his wife.
The Korps’ swingers site listing, under the joint user name Cple For Fun, has been published widely in the Australian media. "Happily married couple looking to have fun with another lady or couples,” the message says. "Looking for a woman or couples who would like to relax in a friendly atmosphere and if the chemistry is right, have some real fun."
Police have said no one who knows the couple – including the husband’s former lover – has been ruled out as a suspect. "With a missing person's investigation we start from the family and work out,” detective inspector Steve Francis told reporters. "We have spoken to Mr Korp. We have spoken to family members and we're just moving out and speaking to other people."
Joe Korp is believed to be the last person to see his wife alive early February 9 at their home in Mickleham – four days before police reinstated a restraining order against him filed by his wife, an order which lapsed the day before she disappeared.
Korp has said he had no involvement in his wife’s disappearance, telling authorities and the press he was working at the exact time she’s believed to have disappeared and did not know exactly what happened to her. But police sought the reinstated order after she was found, while he told reporters he was devastated at being kept from visiting her in the hospital.
