Mexico’s National Institute for Women is using sex dolls dressed as office workers in an ad campaign aimed at battling sexual harassment of women in the workplace.
According to Reuters, the effort is meant to coincide with the recent International Women’s Day which celebrates women and their contribution to society.
The ads, shown regularly on television, depict sex dolls wearing suits and sitting at terminals with their wide eyes and gaping mouths as men repeatedly harass them by stroking their shoulders or speaking to them with sexual overtones.
The ads also feature a voice over saying “No Woman should be treated like an object. Sexual harassment is degrading and it’s a crime.”
In Mexico, the age of consent varies from state to state and can be as young as 12 and many women are often discouraged from having abortions and forced to have children they don’t want even in situations involving rape.
The campaign comes as a follow up to a recent campaign to combat violence against women, showing photographs of bruised and battered women.
