Lexington Steele is expanding Mercenary Pictures with the formation of a European division dubbed Mercenary Europe.
Mercenary Europe will produce product within Europe for Mercenary Pictures. Steele named George Akwo, Mercenary Pictures vice president and head of business and legal affairs, as head of Mercenary Europe and 2005 AVN Female Performer of the Year Nominee Mandy Bright as head of production.
Bright is also signed to Mercenary Europe as an exclusive director, but she will continue to work as a performer for other companies.
Steele, an award-winning director and performer, said Bright's work was brought to his attention when she mentioned the difficulty she had in finding a company to host the content for her website. Steele asked to see the scenes Bright shot and described them as "stylized scenarios with gothic overtones," but added that he was impressed with the over-the-top content.
"It was porno unlike I've ever seen," Steele told AVN.com. "It was porno I was interested in, but I didn't know how to produce. Her productions boarder on what's considered to be exclusionary."
Bright said what makes her work different are her fantasies and her attention to the details in the scenes. She's hands on with the costuming, the makeup, the music scoring and edits her own work to ensure the scene is of the highest quality and that her vision of the scene is what is on video.
Tentative plans for Bright include a hardcore girl/girl line, a girl/girl strap-on POV series and high-end boy/girl titles. Frank Gunn will assist Bright in her videography, who will perform in the boy/girl line as well. Steele also plans to perform in Mercenary Europe's boy/girl productions.
"Mercenary Europe will target the premium adult market and target segments of the gonzo market that haven't been tapped," Steele said.

Mercenary will sell two versions of Bright's productions, an uncut version for sale outside the United States, and an edited version for domestic sales. The titles, to be released in January, will also carry warning labels on the packaging and following the copyright warning on the title.

Hell's Angels, Bright's directorial debut and the first release from Mercenary Europe, will street on January 27.
