Mega Perving: On the Set of Brazzers' New Comedy Feature
'If everyone is laughing, things are going good'
This feature appears in the September issue of AVN magazine.
LOS ANGELES—Walking up a dusty mountain trail in the summer heat to the set of Brazzers’ new Mega Perv feature comedy, I realize I’m not going to make it. I’m overdressed and overheated. A few more steps and I will die in the dirt, costing production thousands of dollars while bringing shame to the AVN Media Network.
As my life flashes before my eyes, I hear the roar of a Jeep riding up behind me. I flag it down and ask for a lift. The driver, curly-haired and shirtless, clears the passenger seat and tells me to hop in. He’s got positive energy to spare—a forty-something dude at peace with himself and happy to help where he can, I surmise. I jump in and recognize the tribal tattoo running down his arm. “You’re Scott Nails,” I say.
Nails, named AVN Best Male Newcomer in 2006 and inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame in 2025, stars in Mega Perv as L.A.-based private detective Randy Rogers, hired by an alien babe to find a meteorite that unlocks sexual desires in any sentient being who comes across it.
“He’s like an idiot savant,” Nails says. “Everything kind of falls into his lap. He’s not great, but he finds shit. That’s what Randy does.”
It’s the third day of an 11-day shoot, and production is buzzing—this is Brazzers’ first feature film. Art director Kylie Ireland has dressed the set, the lights are up, and DP Matt Holder and his team are checking their cameras while grips, PAs, and assistant director Tommy Pistol make adjustments throughout. Smiles, waves, laughs, and good vibes abound.
“If everyone is laughing, things are going good,” Nails says, nodding as we find a place to sit and talk.

Nails, who was nominated for Best Leading Actor at this year’s AVN Awards for his comedic turn in Digital Playground’s The Hold Up, has built a colorful gallery of characters throughout his decades-long career, from villains and scoundrels to goofs and well-intentioned misfits. After playing so many characters over the years, he appreciates the extra time a multi-day shoot provides to find his character’s core and develop the role.
“Sometimes, I don’t even find the character until the third day,” he reveals. “I’ll get a different haircut or mustache, shave, use jewelry or glasses, anything that helps me become that person, but ultimately, I’m fine-tuning it in my head as we go. I was fortunate that the first day on this movie was a dream sequence—no dialogue, just facial reactions—so I was with Ricky all day, refining Randy.”
Nails has tremendous respect for his director and frequent collaborator, Ricky Greenwood, whom he compares to the late, acclaimed industry filmmaker Robby D.
“That’s why I like Ricky; that’s why I liked Robby,” he says. “They care enough to help me. They’re not just, ‘Oh, you do it.’ We work on it together.”
Our chat is interrupted by superstar Abella Danger, who leans in behind Nails and says, “Hello.”
He replies in kind and there’s enough of a spark that I wonder if I should grab Greenwood and his camera to capture the moment—maybe some wipes and a towel. They briefly catch up while I enjoy a mega cold soda on this mega hot day.
Danger, who has retired from studio work, is on set for a non-sexual cameo as herself. “I’m quite nervous about it,” she says. “At first, I thought playing myself was going to be the easiest thing ever. Then I got very introspective and philosophical about it. Am I supposed to play myself or an animated version of myself? Who am I? Then I was in way too deep and thought, ‘Okay, let me not think about it that much.’”

The scene marks her first time working with Greenwood. “I really wanted to be a part of this film because I love Ricky Greenwood’s work—I think it’s absolutely incredible. And I think this movie is going to be great. I’m happy that I get to be a part of it.”
In the scene, Danger punches Nails in the face, leaving his private dick with a bandaged nose for a good chunk of the story—an ode to Roman Polanski’s Chinatown and a rib tickler for Greenwood.
“We decided to make this an L.A. movie,” Greenwood explains. “Like To Live and Die in L.A. and all those movies where the city is important. That’s why you will see Scott Nails with a big piece of white dressing on his nose. Because I watched Chinatown and thought that would be funny.”
“It’s kind of a serious movie but with funny situations,” he continues. “We shot a scene in downtown L.A. where Scott swallows the rock because the Men in Black are after him, and it gives him bad hallucinations. A big testicle comes out of his body and chases him on the streets of L.A.”
Greenwood pauses. “It sounds all over the place, but when you put it all together, it’s a nice summer blockbuster type of film that doesn’t always make sense but is fun to watch. It’s a rollercoaster with a huge cast.”

Back on set, cameras are ready to roll. Randy has stumbled upon the mysterious meteorite while crashing the craft services tent of a sci-fi B-movie shoot, where Adriana Chechik, Kira Noir, and Asian newcomer Vivienne Vo play Hollywood actresses in sexy Barbarella-inspired costumes. “Anything that’s different or creative is a good time,” Chechik says. “I love to dress up—and lingerie is cool—but it’s really fun when you get to wear a costume.”
Greenwood calls for action and, boy, does he get it. The girls are on fire and in character. Under the influence of the space rock, Chechik and Noir pull Vivienne into a three-body orbit.
“It’s fun to get a little silly with each other, especially when it comes to improv,” Noir says afterward, wrapped in a towel. “The dialogue is set in stone, but once we start having sex, we’re still in character. Like, we didn’t plan teaching Vivian how to have lesbian sex. That just became a thing, and it was so much fun!”
Vivienne, looking like she’s been hit by a lesbian Mack truck, coos, “These girls are amazing at what they do. As someone super new to the industry, it was nice to do such a big scene with them.”
The girls head back to their dressing rooms. Greenwood shoots some additional coverage with Nails at the tent, then calls lunch. Nails jogs by and gives me a thumbs up. “Nailed it,” he says.
