Mary Carey One Of Two Candidates Selected For Stern

Yesterday Howard Stern's radio show was ruled a news program by the Federal Communications Commission, opening the door for Stern to book political candidates without worrying about the "equal time" rule.

As a result, Stern is inviting the two candidates in California's recall election that he's most interested in - Arnold Schwarzenegger and Mary Carey.

Carey, who has been on Stern's show twice in the past, informed AVN.com that she would not be participating in an anal ring toss, something that Stern had tried to get her to do before her campaign for governor began.

The Stern show qualified as news program because it is scheduled regularly and Infinity decided which guests to book based on their newsworthiness, without looking to advance any particular candidate.

Noting that the Communications Act was meant to provide an exemption for "bona fide" news programming, Andrew Jay Schwartzman, president of Media Access, told Reuters, "When guests are selected by the size of their bust, it is not bona fide news programming."

Campaign manager and Kick Ass owner Mark Kulkis expects that Carey will be on Stern in early October.

Tonight Carey will be appearing at the Barfly on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood for an official fundraiser for her campaign party sponsored by Ilovevagina.com. There will be free champagne from 9-10p.m.

Carey will give a campagin speech addresing the issues facing California and her unique slant on how to best solve those issues.

"The other leading candidates are talking a lot about the problems of the California economy,” Carey said in a statement. “But I don’t hear any of them producing ideas for solving these problems like I am. While certainly unconventional, my ideas are workable and will reduce costs and bring in new money.”

The Barfly is located at 8730 W. Sunset Blvd.
