Anticipating that CBS will provide a tamer halftime show during Super Bowl XXXIX than Janet Jackson's now infamous performance earlier this year at Super Bowl XXXVIII, Mantra Films, the company behind the Girls Gone Wild video series is producing a halftime special of their own, the Girls Gone Wild Halftime Games.
The live Pay-Per-View (PPV) special will be available during the halftime portion of Super Bowl XXXIX, which will take place on February 6, 2005.
"After the uproar over 'Nipplegate' and 'Towelgate', halftime at Super Bowl XXXIX is shaping up to be a G-rated sleeper. That's why we've created The Girls Gone Wild Halftime Games, which promises viewers guaranteed wardrobe malfunctions," said Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis.
The Girls Gone Wild Games will pit 40 women against one another in a series of physically challenging, nudity-inducing outdoor games such as tug of war over a pool of water while wearing white bikinis, and a relay style obstacle course with the losers of each preliminary round of that competition removing an article of clothing.
"We've put a lot of thought into creating something memorable that our target audience will appreciate," Bill Horn, Mantra's vice president of communications and marketing, told AVN.com.
Comedian Doug Stanhope, former co-host of "The Man Show" and host of Girls Gone Wild: America Uncovered, will serves as a host for the Games, which will be shot at an undisclosed location overseas.
The Games will run approximately 55 minutes, with a notification to viewers when the Super Bowl is about to resume. The PPV event will be made available to customers for $14.95.
