Man Accused of Using Church Account to Buy Net Porn

If he is found guilty, the case can be filed under "Is thisdumb or is this dumb?" A Chatsworth, Ga., man is accused of buying Internet porn with a bank account belonging to a Dalton church's benevolence fund.

Robbie Lee Ritchie was indicted for fraud May 19 and jailed on a $25,000 bond in Murray County. If convicted, he faces between one and 10 years in prison on each of 12 counts of identity fraud, not to mention up to a $100,000 fine.

The church in question was the Central Church of Christ. Bob Lee, and elder with the church, told the Associated Press that Ritchie was not a church member, and that the church learned of his reputed doings last summer.

"It was my understanding," Lee told the AP, "that it was someone who came to the church seeking some assistance from our benevolence program."

The church reportedly kept only small balances in the account, and their bank reimbursed the missing funds.
