Bruce Last has been on dozens of radio shows across the country for over a year promoting Sphincterine, an anal hygiene product. He’s not surprised that Stern is the only person to have been fined for letting him plug his product on air even though, by his own count, Last has been on over 80 radio shows having similar conversations.
“There’s not even a doubt in my mind that they’re targeting Stern,” Last told AVN.com. “Everybody knows that. I don’t mean to be Mr. Obvious here, but there’s no doubt in my mind.”
Last, the creator of Sphincterine, was the guest on a segment of “Howard Stern Radio Show” last year that was responsible for two-thirds of the fine levied against Clear Channel for broadcasting the show.
Although even before the FCC announced the fine last week, Last had found that radio stations were already shying away from his product.
Last tells of a recent interview on the “Rod Ryan Show” in New Orleans. The interview went so well that Last posted it on his Website until he was asked to take it down.
“I got a call about a month ago from the general manager of that station and he said, Can you please pull that interview off your Website. We’re truly afraid that the FCC is going to come down on us for it.’
“I knew at that point things were just getting really weird out there. And then, also, the interviews kind of dried up.”
And while the very nature of the product brings giggles to any discussion, and there’s Pucker the Starfish, the product’s official spokesperson – Last insists Sphincterine is a legitimate product. A product that in a free market economy he should be allowed to promote.
“It’s an efficacious and legitimate product. It works really well, it gives you confidence, makes you feel good,” he said. “I mean, I just think of it as mouthwash for your ass.
“If I came out with this product now versus when I did, like a year and a half ago, I wouldn’t have gotten any publicity, and I would have sold zero product.”
