Adam & Eve contract performer Carmen Luvana and Tommy Gunn will host the Fans of Adult Media & Entertainment Awards or F.A.M.E. on June 24, it was announced today.
The event, slated to begin at 9 p.m. at the Los Angeles Convention Center as part of AVN’s Erotica L.A., will showcase the top stars and movies as chosen by the fans, organizers said.
Adam & Eve, Genesis magazine, WantedList.com and AVN.com have joined together to produce the event.
“We wanted to create something that was made for and decided by the fans,” said Dan Davis, Genesis’ editor-in-chief.
“This way, if you didn’t vote, like the presidential election, you can’t complain.”
Fans over 18 may vote for the various categories by going to the F.A.M.E. Web site at www.thefameawards.com until May 1. Voting on finalists will then follow until June 23.
“It’s really about the fans,” Davis said. “There’s nothing saying that a smaller company isn’t going to beat a bigger company.”
Anh Tran, co-founder of WantedList, said the awards Web site will verify voting and will guard against voter fraud.
“The software we’re using was made especially for this (event),” Tran said. “We’re guarding against any voter fraud.”
Paul Fishbein, AVN president, said the event enhances Erotica L.A. by giving fans a chance to see the winners they themselves picked.
“It ties right into the trade show, so why not get involved in this and bring in more fans?” he asked.
Likewise, Adam & Eve President Bob Christian said the event gives his company a chance to see what the public likes.
“It’s an opportunity to see what people that are not our customers are buying… and what they’re watching.”
Like other awards shows, the program will present awards to Best New Starlet and Best Male Performer and Best Gonzo title, but it will also present awards in such categories as Best Ass, Best Breasts and hottest (female) body.
Although there won’t be any musical acts to take the stage, organizers said the stars themselves will provide plenty of star power and excitement for the evening.
