Director David Lord has confirmed that he has left American Hardcore.
“I felt my future was elsewhere and now I’m looking for a good company to be behind me to make my ideas come to life,” Lord said without elaborating.
Lord had shot just two videos for the company, last year’s Sack the Wet Back, and the newly-released Titty Babies.
“We wish him the best of luck and we hope that he’s happy at whatever he does,” said T.J. DiReda, who along with Vic Thomas, co-owns American Hardcore.
“I’ve been in the adult industry my entire adult life, having started out as a salesman at Western Visuals and then working on the production side at Private USA, so I know things change,” said Lord, who has won five AVN awards in his career.
He now hopes to continue his work which landed him an AVN award last month for Best Vignette Release with Vault of Whores, he said. That title followed up his Buttman Comics Presents: Tales from the Crack, which also won an AVN Award in the same category in 2005.
Lord, also known as David Crawford, has worked at Evil Angel, and at Wicked Pictures where he helped develop some of the company’s gonzo lines.
“It’s a giant chess game out there. A lot of guys moving around,” he said, referring to a number of directors such as former American Hardcore shooter Martin Del Toro, who is now exclusive with Red Light District, and Jules Jordan, who left Evil Angel to form his own company.
Lord is known for his quirky Sack the Wet Back, where he made his American Hardcore directorial debut. The film was notorious for its nude box cover plastered on the side of a building along Sunset Boulevard last year, earning the company a fine from city officials for placing the ad without a permit.
