Lightspeed Media Sponsors ASACP

Lightspeed Media has become the newest corporate sponsor of the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection.

Lightspeed Media’s ventures include Lightspeedcash.com, a revenue-sharing program specializing in the “solo-girl” niche, as well as dozens of pay sites and an exclusive DVD series. The company’s founder and chief executive officer, Steve Jones, recently was profiled in the Wall Street Journal.

“We wanted to support ASACP since the day we heard about it, but because of our focus on the ‘barely legal’ niche, ASACP was reluctant to accept our sponsorship until they had the resources to thoroughly review our sites, business practices, and traffic sources,” Jones says. “Now that is done and we are all on the same page, moving forward.”

ASACP Executive Director Joan Irvine says Lightspeed Media always has been well-suited for ASCAP sponsorship.

Lightspeed is a dynamic, trendsetting industry leader…[with] conscientious business practices,” she says. “Steve has always been very proactive with his affiliates and had excellent labeling [of his sites]. That was never the issue. As with other sectors of the adult industry, we had to make sure appropriate guidelines were in place before we could accept sites in that niche. It took more than two years before we could accept dating sites, because their situation is so different [from content sites], for example. The same is true for TGP sites. We had to define best practices and get our spidering technology in order.

“Sometimes it seems like we move slowly, but you never get a second chance to make a first impression,” she continues. “It’s our reputation and [the reputations of] everybody who’s associated with us [that are on the line].”

Founded in 1996, ASACP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating child pornography from the Internet. ASACP battles child pornography through its CP reporting hot line and by organizing the efforts of the online adult industry to combat the heinous crime of child sexual abuse.
