Liberty Network’s Banan Shocks With Taliban Parody

A press release written to promote David Sterling's new mainstream feature, "Witches Sabbath," reported that adult film Legend Ron Jeremy had been beheaded on the set in a Taliban-style execution. The report, filed by Steven Banan of The Liberty Network, was not meant to be taken seriously.

In the story he filed from the set, Banan wrote, "Ron Jeremy who plays a bible salesman, sinner Craven Morehead was captured and tied down to a table in the witches’ chamber to beheaded and sacrificed. When he was decapitated, his head flew off and his blood squirted everywhere."

Although he press release was humorous in nature, Cindi Loftus of Xcitement Magazine in Florida wrote an angry response to Banan, writing, "It is absolutely disgusting that at this time with what is happening in the Middle East that anyone would make light of people being beheaded. I can't believe that Ron participated in this project. Please remove me from your subscription list."

In a response to Ms. Loftus' accusations, Banan wrote, "This article and press release was used as a publicity tool, for one reason and one reason only, to promote the film Witches Sabbath. It was not meant in anyway, to offend the victims or the families of those brave men whose lives where so tragically taken by the Taliban." Banan went on to add, "Ron Jeremy had noting to do with this article. Mr. Jeremy was only an actor portraying a character in the film. I was commissioned as an independent publicist to release this article. Ms. Loftus, to presume that I or Mr. Jeremy, would ever make light of the situation in the Middle East shows me how unaware you really are."

Although this war of words may continue, readers, at least, can rest easy knowing that our beloved Ron "The Hedgehog" Jeremy is alive and well.
