A conservative group is pushing legislation in Ohio that would make possession of pornography a parole violation for sex offenders.
Phil Burress, a member of the right-leaning Citizens for Community Values, said sex offenders should not be allowed to have pornography, according to the American Family Association’s Family.org Web site.
The group is working with legislators on the proposed measure, but Burress says it’s not enough for the proposal to pass into law there, adding that he hopes it catches on around the country.
Len Deo, executive director of the new Jersey Family Policy Council, said Burress and his group is on the right track when it comes to protecting the public from sex offenders.
Although he admitted there’s no evidence pornography contributes to sex crimes, Burress claims denying sex offenders access to porn is common sense.
