Lava Releasing is looking for experienced sales professionals to join the company, which launched last month.
The merger of Phoenix Releasing and the forces behind new production company Slave 2 Lust Productions has opened up opportunities for a staff of people with one-stop or distributor sales backgrounds.
“We feel the change in the market will require direct-to-retailer sales as well as the traditional producer-wholesaler relationship,” said Bob East, partner in Lava.
“With nearly 500 titles a week on the streets it is impossible to have a one-stop salesperson effectively represent everyone. Advertising and marketing are fine, but to have someone calling retailers to point out specific titles — ours — is essential to our game plan.
“We have already brought in a top operations person in Mischa Allen, formerly of VCA/Hustler,” East continued. “The next step is to find a couple of people to beat the streets to move the estimated 15-25 releases a month.”
He added that deals are in the works with a major producer and a foreign distribution company in addition to Slave 2 Lust and Frenzy Films (another house brand) product and Lava’s existing lines. New offices are slated soon for the central Van Nuys area.
This month Lava ships The Edge Runner, from Nicholas Steele’s Ultimate Pictures, Victoria Givens’ Date My Slut Mom, and the first titles from Slave 2 Lust, Deception and Phallic Angel.
