Lava Releasing has decided to close its doors.
Lava opened in May and acted as sales agents for various producers in the adult industry, including Nicholas Steele Productions, Rod Fontana’s Dead Men Hanging, Ghost Pro and Slave 2 Lust.
Bob East, the company’s sales and marketing manager, said. “We formed this company with expectations of big things and to represent a large variety of product. Unfortunately, between our initial meetings last January and the actual start-up date in May the market and the industry changed enough that we were not able to adapt to it within our game plan. Opening in May was a killer since this past summer was a sales nightmare for most people. Add the latest scare of 2257 to that same timing and a few contracts that did not come through and we were handicapped from the start. We had lofty goals, it’s a shame they didn’t come true."
Lava has been working with its producers to find new sources of distribution so that companies will be able to continue to get the product they need. As of now, two lines have found new distribution. Club Summer Haze has gone with Dane and the transsexual line Planet Giselle is with Fifth Element.
Lava plans on letting people know where the other lines eventually end up.
