Kremen To Chair ASACP Advisory Council

Gary Kremen is the new quarterly chairman of Adult Sites Against Child Pornography's Advisory Council, the group announced July 19.

“ASACP has made an important contribution to battling one of the Internet’s worst enemies – child pornography,” said the Grant Media chief known best for his successful battle to retrieve his Sex.com domain from cyberthief Stephen Cohen. “We need to ensure that ASACP has the foundation to continue making such a strong impact and I am glad I can help make that happen.”

Kremen, who was already an ASACP Founding Sponsor, will chair the advisory council and make a donation to start an ASACP endowment to help them keep a strong financial future and thus keep up the fight against child porn, the group said.

ASACP executive director Joan Irvine said Kremen has been one of ASACP's most active participants ever since the Advisory Council was created in 2002, impressive considering he's the only council member who does not live in Los Angeles.

“(But) he has arranged his busy schedule to attend every meeting," Irvine said. "He has shared his knowledge of business and nonprofits to help guide ASACP’s future direction. It is only through such active involvement as Gary’s that an association can continue to accomplish its mission and grow to meet the future needs of its members as evidenced by introduction of ASACP’s new Compliance/Membership system. A few of the features in this system were included because of Gary’s input."
