Adult entertainer Kim Chambers placed third in her class, competing in the medium (height) division at the recent California Figure and Fitness Championships, qualifying her for Nationals, though she has opted not to compete in the Nationals this year.
"I think you have to be a lot leaner than I am right now," Chambers told AVN.com. "I just don't have the time to get there. The women at that level have been training for years. I hope to be in shape to compete at that [Nationals] level next year."
This was only Chambers third ever fitness competition. Fitness competitions are different from bodybuilding, which is primarily about muscular physiques. Competitors in fitness competitions are judged on body tone, firmness and the athleticism of the physique. In fitness competitions categories are decided by height, not weight as in bodybuilding.
Fellow adult performer Aria also qualified for the Nationals with a fourth place finish in the medium-tall division.
Chambers originally entered fitness competitions after her personal trainer suggested it would be good motivation for working out.
"It was just a good goal to lose weight so I could look good for fucking," admitted Chambers, who at first was worried that she wouldn't be allowed to compete because of her career in adult. However, she's found the fitness community very accepting of her career choice. She's even in the July issue of Flex.
"This is my new passion. It keeps me sane and lets me release all of the stress," she added.
Future plans in fitness include competing in an Iron Man competition in December and training to be able to compete in fitness events in the future.
As far as her adult career goes, Chambers has been working a lot for director Nicole London lately and will soon start assisting her on the set so that she can pick up the skills she needs to direct.
"Hopefully I'll just do a few movies over the next year then move into directing," Chambers said.
