Katie Smith has been named director of customer acquisition and retention by the Playboy Entertainment Group.
In her new role, she will oversee marketing of Playboy’s online subscription business, where she will acquire and manage traffic with a focus on building memberships and retention. The move means that she will step down as president of the marketing company she founded, 3ob.com.
“We are excited to have someone with Katie’s experience joining our team, and we are confident that she will be a key contributor as we continue to expand our digital businesses,” says Michael Sprouse, senior vice president of marketing, Playboy Entertainment Group.
Select 3ob.com clients will continue working with an existing project manager, while others may continue through technology partnerships. No decisions have been made about the continuation of the 3ob.com brand.
“My clients and their best interests remain a priority and my central focus as I make this transition,” Smith says. “I’m extremely proud of 3ob.com and hope the brand will continue in some way, shape, or form, but I won’t be driving it.”
She will step down as president of 3ob.com on May 2 and begin her duties at Playboy on May 9.
