Judge Dismisses Woman’s Suit over Kid Rock Sex Tape

A Miami-Dade Circuit Judge has dismissed an invasion of privacy lawsuit by a woman who says she was featured in a sex tape with rockers Scott Stapp and Kid Rock.

The woman, known only as “Jane Doe” on court documents, had sued the two musicians and Red Light District, claiming her privacy was invaded when a sex tape allegedly showing her and two other women engaging in sex with the two men, was sold to Red Light earlier this year.

Judge Gerald Hubbart told the woman’s lawyer Thursday that she could refile her lawsuit within 20 days but only if she uses her real name, the Associated Press reported.

The woman claimed she was the “star” of the tape and has allegedly suffered emotional and actual damage due to the tape’s sale to Red Light.

“We filed the motion for the woman to reveal her identity and the judge agreed with us,” said Ray Tamaddon, Red Light’s attorney.

“The woman is claiming damages as a result of this tape, but if you claim damages for invasion of privacy and you file a claim anonymously, it’s a little disingenuous.”

In February, Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, sued Red Light in an attempt to stop the tape’s distribution, claiming it was stolen from Stapp.

But Tamaddon has maintained that his company acquired the tape from its legal owner, whom he would not identify.

In her complaint, the woman is described as a student from Miami who is “one of four women who participated in the sexual acts, after a romantic interlude” with Stapp.

According to the suit, she is seeking damages of more than $15,000.

Meanwhile, Red Light has vowed to fight Rock’s lawsuit, claiming they were within their rights to sell or distribute the tape.
