Director Jonni Darkko’s latest release, Evil Angel's Angels of Debauchery, hit streets about a month ago, and shook things up by refusing to pigeon hole its smut into a specific niche. We mixes it up with arguably the hottest director in the game on topics as divergent as whether d.p.s are gay, the wonders of ass, and the “essence of porn.”
AVN: What’s the concept behind Angels of Debauchery?
Jonni Darkko: I was trying to put together something that wasn’t necessarily themed off of anal or d.p.s or any of that bullshit. I put together five really great sex scenes. All my stuff for New Sensations was anally themed, and I have four anal series and a girl/girl series and all that business, and I thought it would be fun to hodge-podge them all together and make something really good. More than anything, there’s just really good, vibey sex. It’s dirty.
AVN: So then the only theme is you want hot sex?
DD: Yes. Everything is so fucking niche-themed now, I think it’s getting ridiculous. I also wanted to really put people together who wanted to fuck each other. That’s the concept more than anything. The sex is really intense and good between everyone.
AVN: why doesn’t everybody pair up people anxious to fuck? You’d think that’d be the 101 of porn.
DD: I think it is sometimes, but I think people are just going too fast sometimes. You just kinda say, “Eh, I’ll just put these people together and see what comes out.” I waited and put people who really wanted to fuck each other together.
AVN: Did the HIV crisis effect your shooting?
I got screwed. This should have been out two, three months ago. I had two scenes done. So I had to sit for two months and wait. It sucked. I’m not a bored person, but man that was the first time in my life that I can actually say I was getting bored. I was just getting started, and everything came to the fucking breaks.

DD: There’s three. No four, I lied. Four. I just threw in a boy/girl/girl, so it doesn’t always have to be that. Ya know? I think what’s happening right now in the porn world is everyone’s getting conditioned where it’s got to be this way. I’m trying to go back the way it used to be. There’s no d.p.s in it whatsoever, which I’m trying to get away from. I think everyone that’s d.p.ing is fucking crazy these days. And to me, it’s just too homoerotic. I don’t really enjoy it. I wanna get back to the fucking essence of porn. My statement is, if you don’t like this, you don’t like porn.
AVN: What is it you would say is the essence of porn?
DD: Just really good sex. Good, passionate, dirty sex. The things that you fantasize about. The exact sexual fantasies that get you off, versus all these crazy, weird … to me, what’s going on with all these multiple partners and this and that, it turns me off. It’s turning into a circus show. Ya know? Like build the tent and have sex.
AVN: How many guys actually dream of d.p.s?
DD: I’ve done it once in my personal life, and I didn’t really care for it.
AVN: I can see women having that fantasy …
DD: Yeah. And even then, the women that I know like it sometimes but not all the time. Doesn’t have to be always, ya know? If a girl likes it, she likes it. But she doesn’t have to have it all the time. I just think it’s gotten a little bit overboard. I think everyone’s chasing the fucking circus act, and I’m just not digging it. I don’t want to see balls slamming together. That turns me off. Double anything is fucking homoerotica. So what I’m basically trying to do is get away from all that shit and go another direction and see if it makes a difference. To me it already makes a difference. Basically passionate and gritty and hot.
AVN: Now what’s dirty yet not extreme?
DD: I mean, I’m always into fucking ass, so there’s tons of that. But it’s not sick, like guys pulling their asses open so you can see their fucking intestines. That just doesn’t do it for me. I don’t have any of that shit going on. Makes me ill.
