Joey Ray made his directorial debut over the weekend, shooting a gonzo video with the working title of Nymphomaniacs in Malibu.
Ray, a six-year veteran performer who won the 2002 AVN Award for Best Couples Sex Scene, had been working as a production assistant for Simon Wolf's Robert Herrera in recent weeks to help prepare himself.
"He comes to the set at 9, and stays there till we wrap at end of the day," Herrera said.
Ray said his plan was to shoot one video per month. He is doing his own stills, lighting and camerawork and said he does not shoot softcore.
"I love my job. I'm addicted to it," Ray said. "This will probably be my last year as talent. … I'm really excited about this project."
Ray, who spent his own money to produce the shoot, said that he likes dressing up the girls.
"I want certain things, but I tell the talent, 'Don't worry about me, just have fun,'" Ray said.
The cast for Nymphomaniacs includes Katin, Avy Scott, Jada Fire, Melanie, Vanilla, Holly, Tyla Wynn and Jackie Moore. There are six scenes, including Vanilla's first interracial with Mr. Marcus.
"It's just going to be all about people enjoying themselves," Ray said.
The release date and distributor for Ray's video was not known at press time.
