Joanna Angel to Direct for VCA

VCA Pictures has announced that Joanna Angel, the popular punk-porn personality and founder of BurningAngel.com, is the company’s newest director.

Angel will begin shooting her VCA debut, Joanna’s Angels, on Sunday in New York City, where she is in the final stages of pre-production at the BurningAngel.com headquarters.

The Website, which Angel started in April 2002, has already produced over 40 videos, many of which have yet to go live. In April, BurningAngel.com: The Movie became their first DVD release. Angel said this project would mark her first foray with a major studio.

“It’s really, really cool,” she told AVN.com. “I definitely used to think about things like this happening a long time ago. I think Burning Angel needed time to figure out who we were and what we were doing, to find our voice. Now we have a solid enough brand that we can say, ‘Look what we have to offer.’ It’s important that we made a movie on our own without anybody else’s help. Now we know we can do it.”

Angel said aside from their punk rock persona and appearance that the most important part of Burning Angel is “our personality.”

“It’s important to have our personality show through, and our sense of humor,” she said. “We’re very honest about ourselves.”

Despite the challenges of shooting in New York, such as finding suitable locations, Angel said “This movie is very fun.”

“It's gonna be really hot, but totally silly and campy at the same time. I want Joanna's Angels to make people laugh and get aroused,” Angel said. “I'd really like females to purchase my movie and get turned on. Men can jerk off to anything — women are more selective when it comes to their masturbation material. So if women orgasm to my movie, I'll feel like I succeeded.”

Joanna’s Angels stars Kylee, Sabrina, Pinky, Katrina Kraven, James Deen, Tommy Pistol and Angel, who appears as a parody of herself.

“Everyone in the movie is kind of an exaggerated form of themselves,” Angel said. “It’s a big satire on porn.”

Angel said that making porn in New York City “builds character.”

“Sometimes I wanna take the easy way out and film in L.A. where everything is spacious and there is a never-ending pool of talent ready to shoot at any moment… but then it just wouldn't be BurningAngel anymore,” she continued. “I’m gonna keep shooting in NYC until I’m blacklisted from every rooftop in all five boroughs.”

Angel recently performed with Deen for director Eon McKai’s upcoming VCA release, Kill Girl Kill 3. She also recently shot for her “longtime porn star crush,” Jules Jordan.

“Eon McKai is the best. He introduced me to the people at VCA and played a big part in getting Joanna’s Angels made,” she said. “BurningAngel.com: The Movie was my first movie ever — a real learning experience. I needed time to find my voice before I could even think about making a movie for someone else. Now I’m ready to blow shit up.”
