Jill Kelly Productions has announced that JKP will halt production until at least June until in light of Darren James’ HIV-positive status and the possibility that the virus may have been passed on to others.
The twelve women that worked with James since his will not be considered clear of the virus until they pass a PCR-DNA and RNA test 60 days after they had sex with him. If none of the women are HIV-positive by June 8 they, and the entire adult industry, will be deemed clear of the virus.
“We have always been a condom optional company and take the health of our talent very seriously,” said Jill Kelly, president of JKP, noting that all of her contract performers must have their current tests from AIM or they aren't allowed to work.
“For the last five years of my career in front of the camera, I always used condoms but that was my choice. No production, no matter what investment we have in it at this point, is worth risking someone’s life to make a buck. It sickens me to think that people would continue production with all that is going on.”
Claiming certain knowledge that some people were continuing to shoot despite the risks, she suggested that those doing so were “idiots with no regard to their talent or crew.”
“Our production manager Chris Weber spoke to a male performer today who was on the second generation list posted on AVN, who had no idea he was even at risk!” says Kelly.
Yesterday the Red Light District, Cherry Boxxx Pictures, and VCA all decided to halt production until at least the second-generation, people who slept with women that slept with James.
Earlier today AVN recommended a moratorium on production in the adult industry, or at the least shoot condom-only productions, until June 8, when the first-generation will hopefully be clear.
Kelly suggested that all talent should get tested immediately, and that people should try to get people they have had sexual contact with tested as well.
