JASTUSA.com, publisher of PC dating-sim games in English, has announced that the upcoming game X-Change 3 has been declared “golden master” and will be released shortly. “Golden master” means the final master copy is complete and being duplicated. This is the third interactive dating-sim game in the sex-change comedy series from Japanese game publisher Crowd.
JAST USA has been involved in licensing and translating Japanese dating-sim games since 1998.
X-Change 3 is an anime simulation game in which the player must find a way to change back into a male after a potion makes him female. The game is the latest interactive English-translated PC title released in the U.S. and is intended for adults 18 and older.
The dating-sim for Windows features the further adventures of Takuya, the unfortunate Japanese university student who’s been changed into a girl twice before through bizarre chemistry accidents.
“There’s more awareness than ever before that adult themes can have a place in computer games, just as they’re found in every other form of media in our society,” says a spokesperson for the company. “With the average age of a videogame consumer around 33, people are waking up to the idea that the subject matter that grown-ups take for granted can be expressed in interactive games, too. We think this trend is great.”
Ever since the first computers with color displays, Japan has had a strong culture of “love simulation” computer games, which simulate sexual interaction between the player and female characters when the player “wins” the love of a given character.
PC dating-sim games are often referred to “hentai” or “H” games by U.S. fans. The games often involve extremely beautiful characters and feature dramatic stories.
The company has a catalog of more than 50 English-translated games with every theme from maids to “cat girls” and more.
