Israeli Playboy TV Holds Audtions for Presenters

The rather conservative Jerusalem Post interviewed one of ten finalists for the search for the next Playboy presenter for the Israeli version of the adult channel.

The only mildly disdainful article notes that Shira Lane, the 26-year-old Australian immigrant that was interviewed, "comes very close to breaking the mould of the ditz you'd expect her to be."

Lane and nine others are the only ones left from an original field of 400 women that two weeks ago began auditioning for a slot as a presenter on Israeli Playboy TV.

"They're all beautiful. The most famous one is Daniela, who used to be a man," she said of her competition.

The current round of the competition requires standing in a bikini and reading a script in front of the camera. Interestingly, Israeli Playboy TV presenters aren't nude.

"As a presenter, I'm not going to be standing there nude. We don't quite know for sure what we'll be doing, but probably we're going to be doing all kinds of interviews, and talk between cuts... to get a bit of Hebrew on the channel," Lane told the Post.

In the reality-TV vein, the Playboy channel has opted to let the audience decide who will be its presenter via Website voting. Votes are currently being cast on their Website through January 10.

While the official launch of the channel, which was banned for a while, has yet to take place there are already some 70,000 Israeli subscribers.
