Iconic ‘90s Sitcom Comes to Life for ‘The Naughty Nanny’

This feature appears in the November issue of AVN magazine.

HOLLYWOOD/LAS VEGAS—Okay, so, a multi-award-winning transgender adult star, a boundary-pushing AVN Hall of Fame performer and a camerawoman famous for shooting gay content walk into a pre-production meeting...

That sounds like the set up to a raunchy joke, but it’s the real life story behind new adult parody, The Naughty Nanny, co-produced by industry multihyphenates Ariel Demure and Brittany Andrews, and directed by veteran videographer mr. Pam.

A zany, unabashed homage to beloved ‘90s CBS sitcom The Nanny (which starred nasal-voiced comic actress Fran Drescher), The Naughty Nanny will be released on November 26, Thanksgiving Eve, which is also Demure’s birthday—and just in time for the holidays.

“Ariel—I'm just, I'm so proud of her, you know,” mr. Pam told AVN. “We were at AVN last year and she mentioned that she wanted to do this movie and I was like, ‘Oh my God, I'm totally in!’ People say things at AVN and most of the time nothing ever happens, but then the next month she's like, ‘OK, we're doing it.’ I was like, ‘Holy. shit.’ I was just so honored that she would trust me with her baby.”

In the gay industry, mr. Pam is well known for her work with several prominent studios including Colt, where she shot 2004’s classic Western Buckleroos 1 & 2, under the tutelage of legendary director John Rutherford. The two-parter swept the GayVNs that year, taking 11 awards including Best Picture.

Stints for the San Francisco studios were followed by a long tenure at NYC-based Lucas Productions, where she worked with controversial Russian star Michael Lucas on several award-winning features.

“And then, finally getting to work with Brittany Andrews,” she continued. “I've been filming her OnlyFans weird-ass customs for the last like year or two, so, to be honest, a huge film with her was just great. She's so funny... So, we have me with the gay guys, and then Brittany's straight, and then Ariel with the trans. So, we had a pre-production meeting and we're all trying to figure out what we want, but we're all speaking slightly different language.”

“Different” is a good word to describe the whole concept. The feature will be classified in the trans category but with a gender-bending slate of hardcore scenes that almost defy the imagination.

Demure plays the lead role of Fran, opposite Dom Cruise (aka versatile veteran star Reese Rideout) who plays Mr. Sheffield, Fran’s former-boss-now-husband. The story starts where the TV series left off in 1999, after Fran married the boss, had twins and presumably lived happily ever after. Except now, things have changed. A lot.

“So, for my best friend (played in the original TV series by actress Rachel Chagall), we also took a huge pivot,” Demure explained.

“Instead of having my best friend be played by a trans woman, I said, ‘Why don't we have my best friend be played by my actual porn best friend, (gay performer) Michael Boston?’ So, we did a gender swap—and then his scene partner is a trans man because he only does gay content.

“Because in order for this to be applicable for Trans Movie of the Year, there has to be a trans person in every single sex scene—however, the rules don't specify whether that's a trans man or a trans woman,” she continued.

“So, we actually have technically a lot of ‘straight content’ because there's no, um, lesbianism. It's all men and women having sex with each other for a majority of the film. It's trans women [but also] we have two different sex scenes that have trans men, as well. Michael is the only scene that actually is a ‘gay’ scene because it's two men having sex, but one of them is trans.”

Slipping into a sly Mob Wives accent, Demure mused, “So, bada-bing bada-boom—something for the gay guys, something for the straight guys, something for everyone who loves ‘The Nanny.’

“And then, we have trans men and Brittany Andrews. Actually, this is a career-first for Brittany. She is getting DP'ed by two trans men. Industry career-first. Who knows if we've even seen that on-camera? A star of Brittany's caliber, someone who's been in the industry 30-plus years with a career-first, being tag-teamed by two trans men. Two icons of the industry as well, Victor Belmont and Chance Hart. So, I was very honored to have them be a part of the project.”

Andrews, who had performed previously with Demure, got involved with the project after Demure had mentioned to veteran director Jim Powers that she would love to do a parody of the TV series.

“He said, ‘They already did—The  Fanny. We did it 30 years ago,’” Demure recalled Powers chiding her.

The Fanny, produced in 1997 for Wicked Pictures, starred Andrews and earned her an AVN Best Actress nomination in the lead role, written especially for her by director Jim Enright. At the time, Drescher reportedly learned of the XXX version of her show and was so amused, she bought copies to give as holiday stocking stuffers.

In The Naughty Nanny, Andrews has returned, this time as the Nanny’s mother, Sylvia. Demure said she didn’t want to presume that Andrews would want to be cast in the more mature role, but then the veteran volunteered for the part.

“One of the things that's very endearing about [Ariel] is she truly does have this serious fascination and love for vintage porn,” Andrews told AVN. “That is so endearing to be around, as an old bitch that was around back then—the way that you can see it through her eyes is just so refreshing.”

“It was funny, too, because Ariel was the first transgender penis I had inside of me, and this was interesting because—when I first started working with transgender females—you know, usually when I'm with a female, I'm always the dominant one. If it was a [biological] female that I was with, I would be dominating. Like I don't usually have women dominate me. I'm very uncomfortable with that,” she said.

“But, you know, with all the discrimination in the industry, from the straight side to the gay side and the transgender side, I felt it was important for me to have the transgender female penis inside of me to make a statement, primarily to the transgender community, that I'm not afraid of allowing your penis inside or something like that—you get my point? I just said, you know, I need to do this in order to make sure that within the transgender community, like I'm showing up in an equal kind of way,” Andrews explained. The initiative for inclusivity will be emphasized once more in the scene with F2M performers Belmont and Hart.

After getting to know Pam twhile working on custom videos together, Andrews said she had also become envious of the camerawoman's access to the gay side of the industry.

“I’ve wanted to be able to work with all the fucking gay hot boys my entire career,” she said, with her distinctive, braying laugh.

In another major coup for the movie, ‘80s adult legend Amber Lynn makes a non-sex cameo as Yetta, the glamourous matriarch of the Flushing, Queens-bred Nanny’s family. Fans who haven’t seen Lynn since her starring role in Wicked’s The Housewives of Amber Lane (2009) will be anxious to see the XXX star appear in an adult movie.

The Naughty Nanny seems like destiny for Demure. Starting out as a young gay stripper, she quickly transitioned to drag, performing on the cabaret circuit in South Florida.

“So, back when I did drag, when I was 19 years old, Francesca Richards from back home, who's a drag queen—she's famous in the South Florida circuit—she told me you need a character,” Demure explained. “You can't just do drag and not have a character because that's how it was back then and I was like, well, you know—I’d try and look like this person, try and look like that person. ‘The Nanny,’ Fran Drescher, was the only one that I really had any affinity towards, that I was allowed to have.

“Because Cher was taken. No one cared about Liza Minnelli anymore because they were like, ‘Oh, everyone does Liza.’ Because that's how it was back then—now good luck finding anyone who can sing a Liza song.”

An avid student of both XXX and Hollywood movies, as well as a collector of vintage and designer wardrobe pieces, Demure knows how to flesh out a character. But no role has been more close to her heart than this one. It’s her most ambitious production to date, following 2023 featurette Gorgons & Goddesses, which won Best Trans Group Sex Scene and Best Trans Acting Performance at the 2025 AVN Awards.

Shot in Las Vegas over three long days, The Naughty Nanny set had a catered buffet, which all three ladies agreed was delicious, put on by versatile Latin performer and chef Cesar Xes. Pam was joined behind-the-scenes by AVN Hall of Fame lensman Sal Genoa, Joel Sinclair on lighting and performer/photographer Brian Bonds, who she has been mentoring.

“I would really love to mention the crew members,” mr. Pam added. “Brian Bonds—I was so proud of him because I've been mentoring him for maybe like 10 years. Then we had. Sal Genoa, who's been on pretty much every award-winning movie out there, and Joel Sinclair, who was doing the lighting. They worked their ass off. They were amazing.”

Obsessed with fan-favorite details, an opening sequence has been commissioned from animators Oliver Florence and David O Star for the movie’s animated titles, just like the original TV show’s opening, with theme song performed by legendary drag artist and comedian Jackie Beat.

Demure and Florence co-authored the script, which she described as "like I Love Lucy" with its wacky plot and kitschy characters. mr. Pam, who is also editing the movie, said the tone is saturated in sitcom style, even down to the audience laugh track. A non-sex cut will also be available for entry to film fests and SFW audiences.

Drescher, who stepped down from her role as president of the Screen Actors Guild in September and was recently awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, would be proud.

The Naughty Nanny will be available on November 26, at Demure’s OnlyFans page and BrittanyAndrews.com, with scenes also releasing on cast members' various content platforms.
