Jonathan S. Schwartz has been named to the position of associate publisher of Playboy magazine and publisher digital, Playboy.
Diane Silberstein, vice president and publisher of Playboy magazine, made the announcement.
Schwartz will be based in Playboy Enterprises, Inc.'s (PEI) Publishing Group headquarters in New York. In this new position, he will oversee ad sales for the magazine on a national basis, ad sales for Playboy.com, and the company's other digital initiatives.
Playboy recently launched a digital edition beginning with its October 2005 issue which expects to offer advertisers increased interactivity through sponsored links, rich media ads and direct response calls to action.
Additionally, Playboy's expected new mobile initiatives will provide further benefits to advertisers, including localized advertising solutions. As digital advertising continues to grow, Schwartz will work to build digital advertising revenue for Playboy and manage the added sales opportunities presented by these initiatives, which act to broaden and enrich the options for Playboy's advertisers to reach the coveted male demographic in a more meaningful way.
Schwartz, 40, joins Playboy from Entrepreneur Media where he served as eastern advertising director based in New York. During his tenure, he also held the position of western advertising director based in San Francisco of Entrepreneur Magazine and its online division. Previously, he held the positions of west coast sales director of MaxOnline, vice president and associate group publisher west of Standard Media International and vice president of sales of HVC Technologies. He began his career at Ziff-Davis Publishing.
"We are delighted to have Jonathan assume this key position," Silberstein said. "With his diverse sales experience on both the agency and publishing side, Jonathan is well positioned to lead the magazine's sales team in a progressive way and oversee the new advertising opportunities available provided by our digital offerings."
