Joone’s Pirates is featured prominently in the November 28th edition of Newsweek magazine, “XXX Blue, Spending Green” by Daniel McGinn. The article touts Pirates as "a sprawling epic" in their coverage of AVN’s recently released nominations.
McGinn writes, “And one film seems poised to pile up honors the way The Aviator dominated this year’s Oscars. Pirates, released in September is already being hailed as a blue movie for the ages.”
Pirates received a record 24 nominations for the 2006 AVN Awards show.
A lengthy interview with Joone, Digital Playground’s founder, and the director of Pirates, reveals the budget, shooting locations and sales figures for Pirates.

The production was shot and mastered on high definition and combines over 300 special effects shots. There are also 10 sex scenes, Incan magic and grandiose sea battles included the movie which is presented on a triple-disc set.
