Howard Levine, national sales manager for Vivid Entertainment Group, said Tuesday that pre-orders for the The New Devil in Miss Jones had reached unprecedented figures.
Starring Jenna Jameson as the devil and Savanna Samson as Miss Jones, the movie is a remake of the 1973 classic.
“We have right now pre-ordered 50,000 going out the door,” Levine said of the title, which ships in two weeks. “Within the next two weeks I’m pretty sure I’m going to top out at over 60,000 out the door, which is an industry record for a non-celebrity fuck film.”
Vivid will release the film as a three-disc set that includes a copy of the original movie and scenes not included in the updated version that was directed by AVN Hall of Famer Paul Thomas. The film earned AVN’s highest rating (AAAAA) in the September issue.
“We kept the price at a Vivid-friendly price,” Levine said. “It’s our way of thanking the distributors. This is something they can absolutely go into the fall and make a bunch of money on. We really appreciate the support from all the stores and all the distributors. We will be sending out DMJ hats and DMJ t-shirts and we also have posters. Levine added, “The only other non-celebrity title that has done anything close to this was The Masseuse, and that did huge numbers for us. We had 30,000 out the door, and over 125,000 in the first year. Both Jenna and Tera go out in huge numbers. With 50,000 to 60,000, no one has ever done that and nobody ever will.”
DMJ also features performances by Roxanne Hall, Rachel Rotten, Angelica Sin, Brooke Alexander, Jessica Jaymes, Vicky Vette, Cameron Caine and Sophia. Georgina Spelvin, who starred in the original, makes a special guest appearance.
