Mystified II and III Bundled with Soundtrack CD

Nectar Entertainment has decided to include a CD of the soundtrack to Marty Zion’s Mystified II and III as an added bonus for people who buy the DVDs, which will both be released in August.

Sean Logan, president of Nectar Entertainment, decided that bundling a CD of the soundtrack for each video would be a welcome added value after people began to compliment him on the original scores used

“End consumers and even distributors have told me that sometimes they put our DVDs in their computer just to listen to the music,” Logan told AVN.com. “Music is certainly a driving force behind the Zion line at Nectar.”

The music for Mystified 2 and Mystified 3 was overseen by Nectar’s own in-house music supervisor Jeffrey Bryan. Bryan works with a team of three to five people when developing each soundtrack.

“He brings in vocal artists, people to play guitar and bass or whatever we need for that particular title,” Logan said.

Bryan consults with director Marty Zion and production supervisor Eric Avalon on each piece, discussing the type of music that will be needed for each video. “We know before a single shot has been taken, the type of music that we will need for the project,” Bryan said. “Marty usually has strong ideas about the color, and color determines the mood of the music. Then we discuss tempo which determines the pacing of the video.”

Logan notes that Bryan, Zion, and Avalon have been known to discuss music for months before a project begins. “It drives me fucking nuts,” Logan said of the trio’s constant musical discussions

In contrast, the music itself on Marty Zion’s Mystified II and III sounds soothing. “It’s a mixture of ethereal Brazilian rhythms and a lot of organic instruments. Guitars with nylon strings, hand flutes. It’s much sexier than jungle. It’s not electronic though. Very…organic,” Bryan said.

Marty Zion’s Mystified II will be released on August 16 and Mystified III will be released on August 30.
