Ice-T's Pimpin' 101 Lands in XXL

Fatt Entertainment's Ice-T's Pimpin' 101, the company's first major adult project that is being distributed by IVD, is featured in the July issue of XXL magazine.

XXL, a leading mainstream hip-hop publication, ran the piece in its "360" section. The July issue has been dubbed the "Sex Issue Reloaded."

The video, which features Ice-T introducing sex scenes and giving his insight into a pimp's life, is No. 1 on AVN's Adult Bookstore Rentals & Sales rankings for June.

The exclusive Pimpin' 101 soundtrack features 14 original songs, including the theme and Ice-T's new track "Swazy." It will be available in stores next week.

Fatt Entertainment plans to continue to promote the feature within the hip-hop community with a new campaign that includes cable commercial buys, street promos and mom-and-pop retailers of hip-hop merchandise. The company said the lingo used in the campaign would address the hip-hop consumers in their "native tongue." A parental advisory sticker will be on the packaging.

"We're treating this like a record," John Ferguson, who is coordinating the street promotions, told AVN.com Wednesday. "We're hiring street teams to go to all the point-of-purchase locations, the hip barber shops, the hip car washes, places where people congregate. We're also running 30-second commercials on cable and doing retail displays."

The 30-second commercials will feature snippets of the video and will air on BET, MTV and TNT. Fatt turned to Ferguson because of his expertise and contacts in the retail world.

"I've had success with hip-hop projects and this is definitely a facet of hip-hop," Ferguson said.
