The controversial billboard depicting a scene from the film The Brown Bunny has been taken removed from its spot above Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip. The suggestive ad featured a strategically blurred image of Vincent Gallo receiving a blow-job from Chloe Sevigny. The billboard’s text read, “In Color” and “Adults Only” and was stamped with an X rating.
The notorious scene depicted in the ad turned heads at a 2003 Cannes screening for the fact that Sevigny actually performed fellatio on her co-star/director. Negative press for the early screening led to a much-publicized feud between Gallo and film critic Roger Ebert which eventually led to Gallo publicly wishing Ebert dead from cancer.
The Brown Bunny is slated for a limited release in New York and Los Angeles on August 27.
