Howard Stern Wants Films for Festival

Howard Stern is seeking five-minute films that reflect “All things Howard” for his Howard Stern Film Festival.

The winner will be chosen at a April 27 awards show in New York City and aired the next day on Howard TV On Demand.

First place will receive $15,000, second place will receive $7,500, and third place will receive $2,500.

During his radio show recently, Stern said he anticipates a large number of entries for the festival. The short films must be live action or animated and up to five minutes in length and based on a topic related to the Howard Stern Show. Tapes or DVDs must be mailed to Howard Stern Film Festival, c/o In Demand Networks, 345 Hudson St. 17th Floor, New York, NY 10014 and must be mailed by April 11.

Meanwhile, familymediaguide.com last week reported that Stern’s use of profanity on Sirius Satellite Radio show jumped 34 percent in February over the previous month.

The Web site, a unit of Los Angeles-based Media Data Corp., reported that the Jan. 9 show contained 737 instances of profanity, averaging to 2.23 per minute, compared to his Feb. 9 show, which contained 988 or 3.08 per minute.

The report cited a 62 percent in the use of the word “fuck,” in particular. It reported the Jan. 9 show contained 77 instances of its use, compared a month later when it was used 125 times. The use of the word “Shit,” doubled during the same period, going from 30 instances to 60.

At the same time, the use of the word “cunt,” declined from 11 instances to none.
