Video-on-Demand (VoD) site HotMovies.com has introduced a true pay-as-you-go billing option for consumers of their Adult film offerings.
The new model charges customers 15 cents per minute, with no monthly fees or recurring billing. The customer still purchases a minimum of 15 minutes of time in advance, like the company’s standard model in which blocks of time are purchased for set rates, and then that time is deducted as movies are viewed. However, any remaining time is rolled over in the user’s account for the next time they return to the site.
“This is what we envisioned when we launched of HotMovies.com in December 2002,” said Richard Cohen, president of National A-1 Internet, HotMovies.com’s parent company. “The site we always wanted to create would allow people to come and go as they please and offer them the chance to watch what they want, when they want. Now it really does.”
The pay-as-you-go model is another option for HotMovies.com users and one that should also add revenue to the company’s partner studios. It is envisioned that with the new model more customers will sample a movie and then come back to view more later.
“Since we created HotMovies.com studios and affiliates have recognized our foresight and have come to love the billing models we use,” Cohen said. “The future could not be better for HotMovies.com, pay-as-you-go billing and Video-on-Demand.”
