Honey DVD Magazine Offers Interactive Adult Entertainment Coverage for Consumers

H&L Digital Publishing, whose principals have a background in mainstream entertainment, are currently in the process of creating a softcore “Maxim-styled” DVD magazine that will cover the adult industry. The initial volume of Honey DVD magazine is expected to launch within three months.

The consumer-oriented DVD will be distributed freely to an appropriate demographic, beginning by teaming up with a mail order company for a targeted mailing of the DVD to 100,000 people who are known to have purchased adult merchandise within the past year. Future distribution plans included stands in select adult locations, similar to the way alternative newspapers such as the LA Weekly are distributed.

Company leaders feel that a DVD magazine has the capability of offering both consumers and advertisers more than a print magazine could.

“DVD-based magazines can present both editorial and advertising content in a more entertaining and integrated way than traditional print media,” said Frank Holder, president and CEO of H&L.

The editorial content of Honey DVD will include interviews with porn stars, music videos, adult video trailers, and behind-the-scenes footage, a cable scheduling reference, and local directories.

THROB’s Katie Smith, whose firm has been hired for the marketing, promotion, and public relations of Honey DVD, says the overall concept of the DVD magazine is something new for the adult market.

“It’s going to be much different, it’s going to look and feel more like a Website,” Smith said. “The interactivity of the DVD creates a more meaningful experience for viewer, and more branding potential for advertisers.”

After seeing a preview of the debut issue of Honey DVD, Adam Glasser, a.k.a. Seymore Butts, signed on as Honey’s first marquee advertiser. Glasser will also supply content for upcoming issues.
