Amateur adult video line HomeSexTapes.com has a deal to distribute its DVDs on AdultDVDOvernight.com, HomeSexTapes parent Networx president Hal Maroon announced earlier this week.
"I've been distributing solely through my Website until now, and I have three video stores," Maroon told AVN.com. "It occurred to me that the way to expand brand awareness, to get people to know the name, was to get with a big, busy site with a big shopper base."
Maroon said the AdultDVDOvernight.com deal, which took about three months to complete, is just the start of a new distribution phase he hopes will bring HomeSexTapes.com's products to a broader adult audience. "I don't have the number, but as I understand it (AdultDVDOvernight.com is) the largest on the Internet for catering to both adult and mainstream," he said.
Maroon also wants to continue expanding HomeSexTape.com products through direct-mail marketing "to some adult video stores around the country," trying to get the products into briack-and-mortar retail outlets. "And, we're going to continue soliciting other online DVD retailers to expand to us, like AdultDVDOvernight did," he said."
He said he liked working through his own site for a long enough time because the markup was agreeable to him, "but it kept me in a very small little box. And I've been thinking of ways to get some higher awareness. And I think in the next month or so, it's going to have a dramatic effect."
Networx premiered in 1994 with a monthly amateur video newsletter, Homemade Hot Shots, evolving to video production and distribution by 1997. HomeSexTapes.com involves all-amateur adult video either shot by the company itself or submitted from individuals and couples around the country.
