Officials at a Cleveland-area high school last Friday canceled, a teacher’s homework assignment calling for freshmen students to research pornography, according to various published reports.
Superintendent Jeff Lampert agreed with Brooklyn High School officials who canceled the assignment which asked students to research pornography as part of a discussion on its purported harmful effects.
Lampert said health and physical education teacher Scott Goia would likely not face disciplinary action as a result. He added that the teacher’s goal was well intentioned, but inappropriate for 14- and 15-year-old freshmen.
Students were asked to research porn on the Internet and list eight facts about the industry. They were also asked to write their personal views on pornography.
The assignment was canceled after parents called the school to complain about the project.
