Heavy.com Launches Content for Sony PSP

Calling itself the top broadband network reaching 65 million “taste-challenged pop culture junkies,” Heavy.com has a deal with Sony to be the first video content provider for PlayStation Portable, making the entire Heavy.com library of animated and live-action video shorts available to download free to PSP.

Starting May 4, six episodes of Blisster, the Heavy.com action sports series, became available for free download to personal computers and laptops with “effortless” synchronization to PSPs, Heavy.com noted in a prepared statement. The company’s first ad partner, Unilever’s Axe brand, is collaborating to release Axe’s Evan and Gareth series for PSP downloads.

Overall, in the coming weeks, more than 40 hours of Heavy.com programming across various of the company’s channels will become available for PSP, the company said.

"We are very excited to be the first mover in the hottest content platform available today," said Heavy.com Chief Executive David Carson, announcing the new deal. "Sony recognized that our unique and signature content was ideal to reach its target demographic of 18-34-year-old-men and to showcase the PSP's non-gaming capabilities. We're thrilled to be the first broadband network to 'PSP-cast' our programming. The response thus far to our downloads has been massive."

Sony and Heavy.com have done business before: Sony recently commissioned the company to create a Machinima series to promote God of War, a Heavy.com gaming title, while the Heavy.com series Pimp My Weapon has been seen by a reported 3 million since it premiered in April.
