Grip Gear, Inc. has been a major player in the distribution game for a number of years, and the company is currently branching out to make itself an adult entertainment force to be reckoned with in more ways than one.
“I’ve been in this business for about 15 years,” Grip Gear President Billy Mourad explained to AVN.com. “Started off working for a couple of guys and then started up Grip about eight years ago, and [have] been growing since then. I started off in a little 10-by-10 room with two shelves; now we got close to a 6,000-square-foot building, and we’re gonna need a bigger building. So things are going up, and we’re getting into productions, which will definitely be a positive thing.”
Mourad plans to start producing original titles in the coming months, with a focus on interactive fare. “I’m gonna shoot for, initially, two a month, and then after that we’ll go to one a week,” Mourad said. “But I don’t want to go more than one a week. I don’t want to flood the market, I just want to put out good product and concentrate on that.”
Grip Gear also plans to offer video-on-demand at their website in the near future, and Mourad boasts of the over-70,000-title database which exists there already.
“Everything is on our computers,” Mourad explained. “Every product that comes in here, whether it’s new release or older, catalog or classic, anything that comes into our building is added into our database. We add about 50 to 100 new titles to our database every day, and it has everything that is known about the product, from director to rating to box covers to who’s starring to genres, everything is in there. So at any given time, if you want to search for a midget title starring whoever the midget star might be, it’ll pull in everything in our database. So it’s a good source to search adult media.”
That source is available to the public to browse at www.1877getgrip.com, and products of all types can be ordered there as well, from DVDs to magazines to novelties.
“You gotta be competitive,” said Mourad. “So we’re very competitive in the market, we’re a big distributor. I just basically try to get the service to the end customer, and not concentrate on the price, because I make sure that I’m getting the best price out there. So it just boils down to the service, and that’s what Grip is all about.”
