SANTA CLARITA, Calif.—The Ice-Bucket Challenge has been completed by hundreds of people since videos of the event started going viral two weeks ago, and now the crew at Girlfriends Films has made one of the first videos and challenges in the adult industry.
“It's always hot in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys, so as a way to cool down AND help raise awareness about ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease) and ALSA.org, we participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge!” the crew said.
Moose, Dan O’Connell, David Diamond and B. Skow doused themselves with buckets of ice water—“Each bucket contains an entire bag of ice because we mean business,” they said—and donated $1,000 to ALSA.org.
The Ice-Bucket Challenge is a fundraiser for ALS groups nationwide. The challenge consists of one person (or a group of people, as in this case) being filmed calling out three other people to complete the challenge, and then getting a bucket of ice water dumped on their head. Participants are “required” to make a donation to ALS as well, and if they do not complete the challenge in 24 hours, they are asked to donate $100 to an ALS group.
The challenge has received plenty of media attention, especially in the past few days, and representatives from ALS groups report that their donations have increased by as much as 1,100 percent over this time last year.
Following the rules of the challenge, Moose called out “Jules Jordan, Alec Helmy, and Steve Hirsch to join me in the Ice Bucket Challenge.
“Dan O'Connell is calling out talent agents Mark Spiegler, Sandra McCarthy, and Derrick Hay,” he continued. “David Diamond is calling out Michael Klein, Theresa Flynt, and Howard Levine. B. Skow is calling out Evan Stone, Dana DeArmond, and writer David Stanley.”
Moose said the reason the Girlfriends Films crew participated was to raise awareness about ALS within the adult industry.
“Social media is being flooded with everyday people and celebrities doing the Ice-Bucket Challenge, and we think it is important to show the adult industry is equally supportive of charitable causes, something we strive to do on a regular basis with the Girlfriends Films Charity Program,” he said.
