CHATSWORTH, Calif.—Girlfriends Films is restructuring its renowned annual charity program to include monthly donations. In 2010, the Girlfriends Films Charity Program donated over $20,000 to various charities. Rather than selecting performers and crew members to participate in gifting only at the end of the year, the new program provides constant tithing. The change to monthly contributions allows for more performers and charities to be involved. Adult performers have the opportunity to submit their favorite charitable organization to receive a $1000 contribution. Submissions to Girlfriends Films must include why the performer values the charity. Each month, Girlfriends Films will choose a new star and her charity, with a donation made in the selected performer's name. The only condition is performers must choose from one of the organizations receiving a "B+" rating or better by the American Institute of Philanthropy.
Performers may apply by emailing the following information: Name, AIP charity of choice, reason(s) for selecting the charity. Entries must be received by April 30, 2011. Chosen performers will be asked to submit a personal photo depicting the performer engaged with the charity, the charity's mission, or a similar charitable act. The photo will be used for promotional purposes.
"The charity program at the end of each year established itself as one of our favorite times," said Girlfriends VP Moose. "Opening up the program to all Girlfriends Films performers allows for the philanthropic spirit to better extend throughout the industry. The ladies' love of certain charities is inspiring, and we look forward to sharing their words and kindness."
Among those impacted greatly by Girlfriends Films' charitable actions is the Free Speech Coalition.
"If you look up the word 'philanthropic' in the dictionary, there should be a big picture of Girlfriends Films," said FSC Executive Director Diane Duke. "Dan, Moose and the folks at Girlfriends Films not only give back to their communities financially, but also roll up their sleeves, show up in person and provide human support. This company has heart!"
Performers' selections will be publicized each month, drawing attention to both the star and her charity. Performers who have participated in the annual program include Prinzzess, India Summer, Dana DeArmond, Tanya Tate, Elexis Monroe, Magdalene St. Michaels, Julia Ann, Celeste Star, Deauxma and more.
Exclusive Girlfriends Films contract star Prinzzess noted, "The charity program is one of the many reasons I love Girlfriends Films. The company is constantly looking for ways to not only improve our industry, but the world."
"I have to give my undying love and respect to Girlfriends Films for letting their performers take part in charitable contributions, setting the highest standards in business practices for adult and the common good of the general public," added Dana DeArmond. "Hopefully other companies will take notice and follow suit, as Girlfriends is setting the bar very high, as well they should."
Among the American Institute of Philanthropy charities previously selected are Farm Sanctuary, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Best Friends Animal Society, Cancer Research Institute, Doctors without Borders, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Sunshine Foundation, International, Planned Parenthood Federation, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Child Find of America, Compassion and Choices, Animal Welfare Institute, Reading Is Fundamental, Population Council, Boys and Girls Club of America and Home for Our Troops.
For four years, Girlfriends Films has run the annual gift-giving program. In addition, the studio has donated tens of thousands of dollars throughout the year to industry-connected organizations. Girlfriends Films was a prominent co-sponsor of this year's Hustler Hollywood Freedom Party and beginning in July, began a recurring $1,000 monthly contribution to the Free Speech Coalition. Girlfriends Films donated a further $5,000 to ASACP (Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection), which works to prevent child pornography and helps parents keep their kids from accessing adult-content web sites.
