GayStreet.net has implemented SMS text messaging from within member profiles. The service is free (although cellular service provider charges may apply) and allows visitors to text cell phones from the convenience and anonymity of the GayStreet website.
Its operators believe GayStreet.net is the only gay interactive site to feature the state-of-the-art SMS technology and audio and video chat free of charge, even to visitors.
GayStreet.net still is evolving, its operators said. The site adds new features every two weeks and will remain a "work in progress" for the foreseeable future, they noted.
Other GayStreet.net interactive features include GayStreet Instant Messenger, buddy list (available in invisible stealth mode), advanced search options, message boards, blogs, user comments, and a rating system in addition to an internal-external mail system. Using the email system, GayStreet.net emails members directly when someone is interested in hooking up with them, whether or not they are logged on to the site.
