Gay porn pioneer Brian King died on Thursday, June 16, of a heart attack. Using the name Barry Knight, he and Delta Video partner Russell Moore were part of Jaguar Films in the 1970s. They wrote, directed and shot (on film) upwards of a dozen movies for Jaguar. Their titles include such classics as The Rivermen, Ghost of a Chance, Four More Than Money, and The Experiment.
Their company Delta Video was A-Line central in the 1980s and '90s, providing post-production facilities for the major gay studios. They returned to occasional video production in 1999 with The Apprentice, directed by King. He and Moore were inducted into the GAYVN Hall of Fame in 2004.
Industry veterans Matt Sterling, John Rutherford, John Summers, Phil St. John, Kevin Clarke, and Rock Hard, who spoke with GAYVN, were shocked by King's death. All remembered him with respect and fondness.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 25, at 2 p.m. at the Metropolitan Community Church, 8714 Santa Monica Blvd., in West Hollywood, Calif.
