Gallant Returns to VCA with New Deal

New York-based, veteran director Joe Gallant is returning to VCA after signing a deal to direct an unspecified number of features.

“I really enjoy working with the people at VCA and so this seemed the best decision to make,” said Gallant, who left the company last year.

Fresh off his successful Killing Courtney Luv and Contract Girl, last year, Gallant and his Black Mirror Productions will soon begin production on new projects with VCA, Gallant said.

“I’m shooting Avenue X and that’s going to be a really interesting project for us,” he said.

“It takes place in 2010 as a kind of sci-fi porn experimental drama where all the porn that’s allowed is government porn.”

Avenue X is based on Gallant’s Black Mirror cable series about five years ago. But the latest version features Kimberly Kane in the lead.

“I’m shooting two version for the DVD and High Def market and a really experimental version that looks Super 8, so it’s going to be wild,” he said.

Gallant’s return also means a reunion with VCA Creative Director Drew Rosenfeld who works closely with producers and directors, and with VCA sales and marketing guru Peter Reynolds.

“It’s great to work with guys like that because they are the best and it makes everything easier,” Gallant said.

Meanwhile, Gallant is putting together a project featuring Vanessa Del Rio and is also developing others.

“I can tell that this year is going to be a lot of fun.”
