Building on the 30-year tradition of "Midnight Blue," the now-defunct NYC cable show created by Screw magazine founder Al Goldstein, Black Mirror founder Joe Gallant has developed "The Screw Show" as its weekly replacement.
The half-hour series, produced by Screw editor Ken Law, debuts in its timeslot on Manhattan public access Channel 67, at 2:30 a.m. on December 24.
"'The Screw Show'" will embody some of the '70s energy that made NYC so amazing back then," Gallant said. "It's a free-form ride through NYC's sex landscape, through pornshops, naked performance-art spaces and hooker hangouts, featuring both current and classic New York adult-industry stars. The fact that it's on so late means that few people will watch it, which adds to its charm."
The flagship episode features interviews with NYC stars Tatiana Stone, Heather Pink and Gina Depalma, and includes an interview that Gallant conducted with Goldstein.
Gallant encourages people visiting New York from the adult industry to contact him if they would like to make an appearance on the show.
"It's the perfect spot for, say, Valley stars who are in NYC doing extracurricular work to promote themselves and their projects," Gallant suggested. "We want to keep it current and appealling, for fans of all aspects of the adult arts."
Gallant worked in network television for 20 years, winning an Emmy Award for sound design in 1996. He previously created two adult-themed series for Manhattan cable.
