FSC to Visit Washington

The Free Speech Coalition (FSC) has announced that Executive Director Michelle L. Freridge and Legislative Affairs Director Kat Sunlove will be traveling to Washington D.C. this week on behalf of the trade organization.

In addition to a full slate of meetings and interviews, Freridge will also moderate a Free Speech Coalition membership meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, hosted by Phil Harvey and PHE Inc., in North Carolina at the Hilton Durham near Duke University.

On the agenda, attorney Tom Maher will speak to, and answer questions regarding, U.S.C. 18 §2257, and Freridge will report on recent lobbying and legislative developments, including the .XXX top-level domain, S1507 (the Lincoln Porn Tax bill), and the Pence amendment to the Children’s Safety Act of 2005. There will also be an FSC membership meeting Sept. 29, 2005, in California at the Woodland Hills Marriott, starting at 5:30 p.m., during which attorney Michael Fattorosi will discuss worker’s compensation issues, and FSC Board Chair Jeffrey Douglas will speak about 2257 developments.

While in Washington, Freridge and Sunlove will meet with FSC federal lobbyist Aubrey King, congressional staff members, and sister free speech organizations. On Wednesday, National Public Radio will interview Freridge, and both she and Sunlove will speak on a panel that afternoon. That panel will be held during a session of the Woodhull Freedom Foundation Brown Bag Lunch Series, titled “The First Amendment - America's Real Endangered Species.” The event will take place from noon to 2 p.m., at the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force, 1325 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, 6th Floor, Washington, DC 20005, and is free to the public.
