Former U.S. Official Hails Sweden’s Military Porn Ban

A former Justice Department official hailed a Sweden’s recent ban on pornography in military bases and in hotels where government officials stay.

Pat Trueman, who headed the Justice Department’s Child Exploitation Unit, said the move would help the country’s battle against pornography, the Agape Press reported.

The action, Swedish officials said, is meant to protect women and improve the military’s effort to recruit them. Military officials there say porn is harmful and degrading to women and that its personnel will no longer stay in hotels that provide porn to guests’ rooms.

Like the U.S. Congress a few years ago, the Swedish military also prohibited porn from its bases and imposed penalties on those who are caught with it.

Trueman, who called Sweden a “promiscuous country,” said the Swedish military’s action shows that the country is slowly accepting that porn is harmful to society and its individuals.
